REDD+

REDD

Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation, creating financial value for the carbon stored in forests, offering incentives for developing countries to reduce emissions from forested lands.

REDD+

REDD+ goes beyond deforestation and forest degradation, and includes the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks.
Deforestation is a global issue and it not only impacts upon biodiversity, the lives of those who depend on forests for their survival, but also climate change. Approximately 20% of all greenhouse gas emissions come from deforestation, with the majority of this CO2 emitted coming from Brazil, followed by Indonesia and then Colombia - all 3 being big coffee producing countries. Naturally it makes perfect sense that the CO2 created by coffee production is offset in the countries within which it is produced.
